Day 4: Race Finals

Race Day was spent observing the other teams and absorbing as much as we could from their preparation process to their race tatics. We also spent some time discussing our weekend with Formula Drift Judges with regards to Ivan’s performance. Upon much review, it was decided that Ivan had shown the potential to become a top-tier driver, so Binter with the support of Goodyear and the Singapore Sports Council has made the decision to compete in a few more races in the FD USA Pro series next year to see how far we can go. Ultimately, this weekend was filled with valuable lessons in race management and driver development as we aim to fly the Singapore Flag high in future events.

Ryan and Chris Forsberg in action. Teammates from Drift Alliance.

Yoshioka saying hello to the wall in his super-quick AE86

Conrad in his red corvette against Sam in his Viper

Most of you would remember Conrad from FD Singapore in the RSR S2000. Conrad is one of the nicest guys on the FD circuit and was constantly giving Ivan pointers and tips throughout the weekend. Most of you might not know this, but Conrad’s nickname is “Burger”...I have no idea why.

JR in his Ford Mustang going up against the wall. JR was hot all weekend ...so hot that he finally won is well-deserved first place podium at FD Irwindale. Congrats JR!

Tanner Foust in his Rockstar 350Z. As the 2007 Champion, he is entitled to the special “1” label on his machine. Tanner was excellent again in 2008, and captured the overall series champion once again. You can catch Tanner on cable on Discovery Turbo, He is the host of Redline TV and recently represented the USA at the Race of Champions at Wembley Stadium. Way to go Tanner!

We also managed to slot in time for Team Binter’s PR shoot with Miss Formula D. Here is a preview from the shoot. Once we get the full photospread from the PR agency, will be posting it for you guys to view.

Marcus and Gearhienz pointing towards Ivan’s number “81”...,,it was a long weekend and we are glad it is over! Watch out for 81 next year!

Marcus and the gang from FD USA. The guy with the super-wide smile holding up the FD trophy is Ricky Lin, our senior marshall for FD Singapore. He was in Irwindale with us for his annual attachment to FD USA. Ricky worked hard the whole weekend at Race Control and most of the track photos were taken by him from his vantage point.
